The mission of The HELP Center is to provide ex-offenders, offenders, and low-income individuals support to restructure their lives and achieve success with counseling, educational, employment, and supportive services.

Work Readiness

WORK READINESS PROGRAM

Work Readiness Training enhances the job readiness of participants by teaching them job-seeking techniques, increasing job search motivation, and boosting self-confidence.

Work Readiness Training at The HELP Center provides meaningful assistance to low income individuals, helping to improve their ability to get a job. Work readiness training activities will be conducted online and will be designed to meet the needs of job seekers and employers. Activities include skill assessment and educational remediation services that prepare individuals for the workforce. Cognitive skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and non-cognitive skills, or soft skills, which are defined as personal characteristics and behavioral skills that enhance an individual’s interactions, job performance, and career prospects such as adaptability, integrity, cooperation, and workplace discipline will also be included in this component.

Requirements

PHOTO IDENTIFICATION

Must have valid identification. Some exceptions may apply.

PROOF OF RESIDENCE

Must have documented residence in Davidson County or Homeless.

PROOF OF INCOME

Must have income below the federal poverty level or no income.

DOCUMENTATION

Must meet with a Case Manager to complete some documents.

VISITS

Must be able to attend in-person or virtual appointments weekly.
