INTERNSHIPS
at The HELP Center
Discover your impact
Embarking on an internship journey is not just about gaining work experience, but an opportunity to bring your academic knowledge to life in the dynamic world of business. Discover your impact at The HELP Center, where learning is continuous and opportunities are abundant.
The HELP Center’s Internship Program is designed to equip the next generation of social work and psychology professionals with the hands-on experience and professional development they need to thrive in the field of human services. Open to undergraduate students enrolled in accredited Social Work or Psychology programs, this unpaid internship offers meaningful engagement in a supportive, service-focused nonprofit environment.
Interns become integral members of our Case Management and Program Services teams, working alongside experienced staff to support individuals and families facing economic hardship, food insecurity, unemployment, and crisis. Through this immersive experience, interns build key competencies in case coordination, psychosocial assessment, client engagement, documentation, and community resource navigation.
With established roots in Nashville, Tennessee, and a newly launched office in Charlotte, North Carolina, The HELP Center is expanding its impact—and its educational partnerships. We have successfully hosted interns from Tennessee State University, Belmont University, Western Kentucky University, and more, and we are now seeking to partner with institutions across North Carolina to broaden student access to real-world learning opportunities.
Whether you are a student preparing for your future career or a university seeking a trusted internship partner, The HELP Center offers a reliable, mission-centered environment where learning, service, and leadership come together.

THE VALUE OF
PRACTICAL ACHIEVEMENT
While academic coursework provides the theoretical foundation for careers in social work and psychology, practical achievement is what bridges the gap between knowledge and effectiveness in the field. Through this internship, students will not only fulfill institutional requirements—they will develop the confidence, critical thinking, and applied skills necessary to transition successfully into professional roles upon graduation. These experiences help students stand out in competitive job markets and prepare them to make an immediate impact in any human services setting.
"From the variety of projects to the abundance of learning and development opportunities, interning prepared me for a dynamic career at The HELP Center. I still leverage the skills and connections I made that summer more than two years later!"
