Job Description

The Food Pantry Attendant is a key member of the Operations Department within The HELP Center, serving as part of the Support Staff team to ensure the effective operation of the organization’s Food Pantry Program. This role is critical in supporting the organization’s mission to address food insecurity by ensuring that nutritious food is distributed efficiently, respectfully, and in alignment with program guidelines.​

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with receiving, sorting, and stocking food donations

  • Prepare and organize food bags and boxes for distribution

  • Support pantry clients during distribution days with care and professionalism

  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and inventory standards in the pantry area

  • Track pantry usage and assist with basic documentation as needed

  • Communicate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operations

  • Perform light janitorial duties to ensure the pantry and small office space remain clean and presentable

  • Uphold The HELP Center’s values of dignity, respect, and community service

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Prior experience in food service, warehouse, or customer service a plus

  • Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30 lbs

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Dependable, team-oriented, and committed to helping others
