New Center to Help Ex-Offenders Stay Out of Prison

By Matthew Torres. CREATED Feb 6, 2015 - UPDATED: Feb 6, 2015 NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A new non-profit organization in north Nashville is helping released inmates stay out of prison. Executive Director Tamika Braden started The Help Center to support ex-offenders who cannot find a stable job and home because of their criminal history. Braden started the idea in December and is planning to open the doors on Monday. “I have always wanted to start one, but did not have the guts to do it,” Braden said. “I feel if we are going to release someone back to society, we should give them a chance to take care of themselves.” There are currently 1.6 million people incarcerated in federal and state prisons in
